The food and the land:

Most of the food at 42 Acres is grown or foraged on their farm, but they aim to source 80% of produce, year round from within 42 miles. They love to support the local economy and don't buy from supermarkets. A local food system is better for people and the planet. Local means less packaging, less footprint, more seasonal, fresh and better relationships with the community.

The vegetable gardens and regenerative farm use biodynamic and permaculture principles. Agriwilding is a way of farming which promotes and restores the biodiversity of the land. 42 Acres share their land and lake with beavers, otters, wild boar, deer, hares, owls, kestrel, buzzards and pine martens to name a few, and aim to ensure that there is plenty of habitat for them to thrive.

They've planted hundreds of nut trees and thousands of native trees across the land for both food and fuel, as well as nearly 1km of edible hedges, half an acre of orchards and half an acre of vegetables. They are also currently developing an outdoor mushroom farm, amongst the first in the UK!

The chefs at 42 Acres forage wild foods and combine them with locally sourced ingredients to create unbelievably delicious and nutrient dense food. Local meat will be on the menu, but premium vegetarian and vegan options will be available. All dietary requirements will be catered for thoughtfully. They cook everything from scratch, including all their own pickling and preserves, ferments and cakes!

The food highlight will be our Fire Banquet. The outdoor woodland dining area nestlednder the canopy makes for a magical evening. With open-fire cooking, intimate dining area and a treehouse, this space is one to inspire and delight.

Alcohol is not provided, so you can treat the weekend as a detox or you can bring your own bottle of wine if you would like a glass with dinner - it is a holiday after all!

The accommodation:

42 Acres is a retreat venue that leads the way in sustainability without compromising on comfort or style. Their heating and electricity is 100% self-generated, so you can enjoy all the luxury and comforts without the guilt.

Our home for the weekend will be a beautiful 18th Century Farmhouse, nestled in over 170 Acres of meadows, ancient forest and, of course, 42 Acres' working regenerative farm. The Farm House is spacious and cosy with views of the Somerset countryside from every window. Enjoy relaxing in cozy nooks, sharing stories over dinner, unwinding with a book from the library and wondering through the wildflower lawn.

Yoga will take place in a traditional Mongolian Yurt with a wood burning stove to keep us cozy and doors around the edge to let the breeze flow through. Yogibare mats, blocks and blankets will be provided.

"Hannah's retreats are always a true delight. Well guided, thought through and deeply relaxing. Her gentle and mindful approach means everyone is at ease and can get what they want from the day." - Naomi

The travel:

42 Acres is nestled in the countryside and the country roads in the area are narrow and often surrounded by tall hedges so it's not difficult to drive right past 42 Acres without knowing it! The most reliable way to find 42 Acres is using the What3words app, it's a great little app that gives you very precise locations. Check the route before you travel because phone signal isn't great in the countryside. Click here to download the app. ‍
