A yoga day retreat in the South Downs National Park

Hannah Pocket's yoga day retreats at Cowdray Hall are designed to give you a proper break from your routine. A full day to rest, move, and reflect. Autumn is a natural turning point. Energy drops, the pace shifts, and it becomes easier to notice the routines and habits that are no longer working. This is your invitation to step back and take stock. What’s worth keeping. What’s not.


Set in the heart of the South Downs National Park, Cowdray Hall is just over an hour from South West London. Expect open space, fresh air, beautiful autumn colours and a quieter pace from the moment you arrive. Yoga takes place in a spacious, light-filled hall with a vaulted ceiling, parquet flooring, and big windows. Plenty of room to move, breathe, and fully switch off.

We’ll begin the day with guided journalling and intention setting, a simple way to pause and take stock. From there, we move into a playful Hatha Vinyasa flow, building warmth and ease in the body, followed by breathwork and meditation. Lunch is a generous, family-style feast from The Yellow Kitchen. Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to shape. Rest in the hall, wander the farm shop and local village or join a guided walk through the estate — taking in autumn colour, the Queen Elizabeth Oak and the Cowdray ruins. We’ll close the day more slowly. Candles lit, moving into yin yoga, guided relaxation, and optional head massage.


This retreat is open to all levels. Everyone is welcome.

11:30 | Morning hatha vinyasa yoga

This no-pressure practice invites you to move with curiosity and ease. We'll begin with slow, grounding movements to settle in, then gradually pick up the pace—flowing from pose to pose in an energising breath-led sequence.


12:30 | Meditation and breathwork

13:00 | Lunch

A family style sharing feast will be provided by The Yellow Kitchen - Serving the best local and Estate-sourced produce where possible.

14:00 | Walk or rest

Join our guided walk around the Estate, explore the farm shop and local village, or relax with a cup of tea, reading, journalling, or snoozing!

15:30 | Afternoon yoga: Candlelit yin yoga

This is a deeply restful practice, offering space to slow down, stretch, and properly switch off. We’ll settle into long-held, floor-based postures, giving time for deeper layers of tension to ease through the fascia and connective tissue. Nothing rushed. Just steady, supported holds. With time and gravity, the body begins to soften and open on its own. Gentle hands-on support and massage will be offered throughout, helping you settle more fully into each shape.

Calming breathwork, guided meditation and intention setting, yoga nidra, head massage with Neil's Yard Bee Lovely Lotion.

17:30 | End of retreat

*Yoga mats, cushions and blankets will be provided. You are welcome to bring any addional props.

Drive | 1hr 15mins from Balham. Free parking is available on site

Train | Nearest stations are Haselmere and Pulborough (15 min taxi can be pre booked and shared)

Accommodation | If you fancy making a weekend of it Cowdary Estate has some gorgeous accomadation.
